A snapshot of our sustainable practices

Sustainability at Wavenet is woven into how we operate; how we manage resources, and how we partner with customers and suppliers. From actively reducing our energy footprint to helping organisations on their own net-zero journeys, we strive to deliver meaningful environmental benefits through innovative practices, responsible choices, and a relentless commitment to positive change.

New carbon reduction plan following the merger

Since our merger with DCS, we’ve taken bold steps to accelerate and unify our carbon reduction efforts. A refreshed, company-wide carbon reduction plan will be unveiled on 1st October – marking a key milestone that consolidates best practices, ambitious targets, and shared commitments from both organisations. This plan will outline our next phase of emissions reduction, including transparency milestones and operational changes designed to meet our sustainability objectives while demonstrating our dedication to accountability and continuous improvement.

How we reduce emissions and support customers

Our approach is pragmatic, and technology led. Highlights include:

  • Cloud-first solutions: migrating workloads to energy-efficient cloud platforms helps reduce reliance on onsite hardware and helps customers lower their scope 2 and scope 3 emissions. Cloud architectures also enable better utilisation, scaling and modern management practices that cut waste.
  • Sustainable procurement: we prioritise vendors and products that demonstrate lower lifecycle emissions, responsible manufacturing processes and strong environmental credentials, ensuring our supply chain aligns with our sustainability standards.
  • WEEE-compliant recycling: we handle end-of-life hardware responsibly through WEEE-compliant recycling and refurbishment routes. Our certified IT equipment disposal and data destruction services ensure assets are reused, recycled, or disposed of in line with customer’s unique lifecycle requirements and net-zero goals.
  • ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certifications: our adherence to environmental management (ISO 14001) and energy management (ISO 50001) frameworks guide continuous improvement, risk management and measurable performance. These international standards provide structure, transparency, and accountability across our operations.

Why these frameworks matter for customers and suppliers

For our customers, these certifications and frameworks offer confidence through proven, measurable commitments. They simplify ESG reporting, help meet regulatory requirements, and allow organisations to partner with suppliers who share their sustainability goals.

For our suppliers and partners, Wavenet’s commitment to sustainability sets a high standard. We expect suppliers to demonstrate compliance with environmental and social requirements, and we prioritise relationships with organisations that share our commitment to reducing lifecycle emissions, responsible material sourcing, and transparent reporting. We are proud to be an NHS Evergreen Sustainable Supplier, demonstrating our dedication to healthcare sustainability.

Our colleagues’ role in sustainability

Our colleagues play a vital role in advancing our sustainability objectives by incorporating eco-friendly habits into their daily routines – whether through greener commuting, waste reduction at work and home, or energy conservation practices. Their commitment exemplifies our collective responsibility and drives real impact.

Looking ahead

Sustainability is a continuous journey without a finish line. We are dedicated to continuous evolution and improvement, working responsibly every day to create a positive impact for today and future generations. We will keep pushing boundaries and making a difference.
