About the Customer

Significant investment in Research and Development and continuous innovation has kept Canon at the forefront of imaging excellence throughout its near 90-year history. This has enabled the company to develop industry-leading technology, supporting future demands of photographers, videographers, office workers, professional printers, medical imaging experts and more. It’s committed to investing in growth industries which will complement its core business such as commercial printing, network cameras, healthcare and industrial equipment.

The Challenge

Canon is well established in its core business, so when it chose to branch out into IT Services it needed a strategic partner who could complement its portfolio of print, imaging and software solutions with the technical knowledge and expertise and experience of IT Services.

The Solution

In order to address this need, Canon turned to Wavenet Wholesale.

Wavenet Wholesale has helped Canon grow its portfolio due to its size, capabilities and extensive product set across seven pillars:

  • IT, Cloud & Technology
  • Mobile Solutions & IoT
  • Contact Centre
  • Network & Connectivity
  • Unified Comms & Voice
  • CyberGuard
  • Network Intelligence

Canon is unique as a partner, growing its portfolio by utilising all seven pillars that are offered. Through employing this product set, Canon now offers more to existing and new customers. Most Importantly, this implementation has seen Canon transition from supplying its original hardware to also supplying additional services and support.

Canon and Wavenet Wholesale have been growing their relationship and have successfully rolled out an initial launch phase. This included launching Wavenet Wholesale’s product set to Canon’s sales teams and running a ‘Canon-Wavenet roadshow’ to create education around IT Services within the business. A core part of this launch phase was to introduce the proposition to customers and encourage them to sign on through their partnership with Wavenet.

Beyond the roadshows, the partnership was also launched through co-hosted webinars, which again focused on boosting product knowledge. The first joint webinar was held as the start of 2024 and addressed cyber security threats and the measures organisations should put in place to combat them. It highlighted the importance of the relationship between Wavenet Wholesale and Canon, both internally and externally.

The Results

The relationship has already proven successful in supporting the business in actualising its vision of portfolio growth and has created a strong pipeline of opportunities, with the future looking positive for both companies as they continue to work together. And, through aligning itself with Wavenet Wholesale to fully utilise its entire product stack, the strategic partnership is enabling it to gain the best opportunities for its customers.

In practice, the services have been used to offer full conferencing solutions and penetration tests to customers, helping them to come up with a plan of how to be better prepared against cybercrime. As well as creating internal knowledge around Wavenet Wholesale’s products, Canon has also implemented them within its own structures. For example, Canon sits within Wavenet’s Security Operations Centre (SOC), allowing for threat detection and the swift implementation of solutions, thereby protecting Canon’s data.

Canon has commented on the success of the relationship stating that one of the reasons for this is the synergy between the two organisations, highlighting how Wavenet Wholesale’s ‘customer first’ mentality and corporate culture aligns with its own.

Wavenet has experience across multiple sectors, and we’re looking forward to embracing the opportunities available to drive change through this partnership for our customers. Working alongside Wavenet, we know we can offer the services our customers are demanding and fully support them on their digital journey with a host of new services we haven’t offered in the past.
